Rocking Pelvis Elvis
Yes yes, they were rather funny for 1 day, maybe even two... now they are just plain tacky. I am going to go out on a limb here and say the only people who have them in their cars wear Hawaiian shirts and Ray-Bans like Tom Cruise did in Top Gun.

Quirky Tuesday

Quirky Holiday Destinations:-

Antartica - The coldest and windiest place on earth. No sunbathing please.. the penguins get jealous of your red bits.

Coober Pedy - Underground town with occasion buildings bobbing up to the surface. Not recommended for those with claustrophobia.

Sahara - Camel Caravans, sand, sand and more sand. Great for the prospective Castle builder, not so good for those that only go for the sightseeing... unless the sights you are looking for is.... sand!

Good: took my lunch on my course with me to avoid temptation.
Bad: Ate Foccacia sandwiches just cause they were there and didn't even enjoy them.

Music Mambo

Hello everyone! It's snowing where I live, so today's Mambo will be snow-themed.

1. They say every snowflake is unique. Name a musician who you think is unique and sounds like no one else.
Cerys Matthews from Catatonia... and what an amazing sound that is!

2. Snowfall covers everything in sight. Tell us about a cover song you enjoy.
It is very rare that a cover song is better than the original.. I can think of 3...
"Spirit in the Sky", originally by Norman Greenbaum, but revamped by Doctor and the Medics
"Cuz I Luv U", originally by Slade but re-sung by The Wonderstuff.
"Band on the Run" originally by Paul McCartney & Wings, but I recently discovered a fantastic rendition by Foo Fighters on the Radio One album.

3. It snows a lot in Canada. Tell us your favorite Canadian musician.
I'll say Bryan Adams.. I'm afraid to say I don't know many Canadian musicians. Shame on me!

4. Watching the snow fall can be very peaceful. Name a song that brings you peace.
'Don't know why" by Norah Jones.

Thanks for mamboing, and if it's snowing where you are - stay warm and stay safe!
I got sunburned today on the bike... sorry but I just had to gloat!

Music Mambo

Kinda missed these....

Sorry the mambo is up late! Today is National Hugging Day.Name three musicians you want to hug, and one you don't want to hug. That's all for today. Thanks for mamboing!

HUG: Robbie Williams, Lily Allen (she's so cute and going thru a rough time at the moment) and Pete Murray
WOULDN'T TOUCH WITH A 10 FOOT BARGEPOLE (as my Gran used to say): Meatloaf ... love his music but he always looks sooooo sweaty! ;)

New Design Letter Box

A very kind person or persons decided to re-design my letterbox for me by posting me a firework.

Whadoyathink?

Unfortunately the postie decided this design is not practical and kindly bent it back into a "Box" shape for me.

Room 101

Adverts for "AB" Machines

Buff models flashing their oiled chests to all and sundry, who prior to filming the advert have never even sat on the damn machine before. They got their abs from their model parents and a personal trainer, who sits over them with a medicine ball while they do sit ups.

Magic images of Fat people morphing into Fit people before your very eyes!

Paid "happy customers" claiming they lost the equivalent of Arnie Swartzenegger in weight just by using this amazing product. The fact that they probably ate nothing but lettuce and actually walked to the corner shop everyday doesn't even come into it!

Makes you wanna barf into your tub of ice cream that you're eating in bed!

Oh, and the guy in the pic here looks like he had his smile drawn on afterwards!

Things, people, places, situations etc you hate/loathe/dispise/don't like very much belong in Room 101. If you decide to do the same please comment or link as appropriate as I would love to hear yours too.

Quirky Tuesday

My Top 3 Quirky Cars:-

  1. Mini Cooper - the ultimate cutey pie (and my first car) If I was childless I would probably still want one.
  2. VW Beetle - the original quirky bug - just ask Herbie. The Cabriolet is especially quirky, and they always seem to be painted unusual colours.
  3. Chrysler PT Cruiser - reminds me of the car the Ant Hill Mob used to drive.

Quirky Tuesday will have a different topic each week, to tell everyone about a quirk / ritual / obsession / routine about that subject. As little or as many as you like if you're playing along at home. (I sound like a game show host!). Readers can meme it on their own blogs or just comment on here. Don't forget to link!

Week 2

Good: Followed diet for 5 days straight
Bad: Blew it big time over weekend.

I have to remember that it is the Chicken Drumsticks that are good for you, not the Ice Cream variety.

Thursday, January 17, 2008

Huh?

So I hear this advert on Vega and thought it kinda amusing....
It is for a company that will provide you with a cocktail machine for your next party
Apparently you call.... 1300 Dakeri....
erm...... 1300 Dakery.....
or maybe 1300 Dakari.....
or is it.... 1300 Daqueri
or what about 1300 Daqueree
Oh what the hell - let's get a keg!
So every time this advert comes on I have a chuckle to myself that they don't tell you the actual NUMBER! doh! Maybe that is so only intelligent people ring (i.e ones that can spell Daiquiri... like me!)
Anywhoo - just did my research to link to this post and the number is 1300 324 784
wha?
I mean... 'scuse me for being a tad pedantic.. but doesn't Daiquiri have 8 letters, yet there are only 6 numbers in the phone number...
Now I am REALLY confused!
I wonder if they have had any calls......

Room 101

Cans with Keys
I have never yet been able to successfully open a can that has a key without incident. I either cut myself, lose the key, get it stuck halfway round, or have the tiny sliver of metal unravel from the key before completion rendering the whole process useless.

C'mon guys - have you not heard of can openers? Cryovac or Vacuum packaging???

Sheesh!

Quirky Tuesday

New words for 2008
  • Erf - think it means "Hurry up" - it's what my dog says when I am getting dressed to take him for a walk.
  • Dilarma - worse than a dilemma, but not as bad as a drama.
  • Dispopsia - when you eat until you burst.

Cool Things I found This Week

Here's a heart-warmer for you, and a break from all the bad news we hear all the time. I agree with the writer, Jacqueline Lunn, in that we need more good stories, more positive feedback, more heroes and less zeros in the news.

I've already mentioned this site, but think it is also worth a look as it has links to other interesting ideas and places to check out, such as Gimme Your Stuff and PostSecret

I got this CD sent to me by my Dad for Chrissie, and I lurve it to death! Check out the interviews so you can hear why they did what they did.

Things I Learned This Week

  1. Check things you find in your pantry to make sure they are not off before you put them in your salad.

  2. Stale Pine Nuts and corn kernels look extremely similar in a salad, and are extremely hard to successfully pick out.

  3. My boy loves me the best! (he came back from his dads early cause he missed me!)

Room 101

This one is lame I know, but I am having trouble thinking of anything better this week!

Orange Peel

I love eating oranges, especially love eating them in segments, but most of the time I avoid them. The reason is because of the peel. I hate peeling them... I hate the smell on your hands that lasts for hours, and the pithy bits that take half an hour to remove.

... and I Especially hate the fact that it looks like the top of my thighs. Grrr!

We are in the generation of genetic modification, so why can't you get oranges you don't have to peel!

Quirky Tuesday

Things just for between me and my boy:-

  1. One blows a kiss and the other catches it and plants it on their cheek.
  2. I scratch his head, and say I have an itchy head... to which he replies "that's my head"
  3. When he leaves I tell him "be good, and if you can't be good..." and he replies "be good at it!"

20 kgs - that's only 4 bags of potatoes... right?

I promise not to bore you with this weight loss crap too often... if you wanted to hear about some fat bitch whining about how hard it is you would watch The Biggest Loser...

But it is I think important to make my figures "public"... (so my 1 reader knows) and therefore acknowledge to myself I have a long way to go. Think the first step to success if not hiding the figures and thereby "shaming" yourself into determination.

I think it is also important for me to document that I have done it before... so I can do it again... the only thing different this time is I have to make sure I stay there!

OK.. here's the facts and figures... grrrr

Start Weight: 85.9 kg
Chest measurement: 105cm
Waist: 113cm
Hips: 120cm
Thigh (right one if you MUST know): 66cm
Calf: 39cm
Arm: 35cm
If you see a chunky chick walking the streets of the Melbourne suburbs muttering to herself "spinach is my friend" please stop her, say "Hey BHB, have you lost weight?" and give me a big hug.... cheers!
(who am I kidding - my 1 "reader" is probably over in Alabama.. and only reads this cause they can't afford cable)

Room 101

Bras worn with Racer Back Tops!

I know it's hot.... REALLY hot at the moment, and you need comfort as well as cool... but PLEASE invest in the proper bra for the top you are wearing.

These days there is simply no need for seeing saggy greying straps. You can buy halter neck bras, ones with adjustable or removable straps, or if you simply MUST have them then those clever little clear plastic ones are great!

Or what about this Handy little invention... Problem solved!

No-one wants to see next weeks washing... so please please please HIDE THOSE STRAPS!
