Manic Monday

If technology was sufficiently advanced, would you be willing to clone yourself?
Nah, don't think so.. not unless I could improve myself as well, although then I'd probably get jealous of myself... ooh how confusing!
At the local grocery store you see an elderly woman shoplift a chicken. Do you tell the management?
Nah - for one thing it's none of my business, and for another these shops can usually afford a small loss, but the woman obviously cannot afford a chuck! Would she stuff it down her belly warmers or hide it in her vast cardie?
If you could be 8 years old again for an entire day, knowing what you know now, how would you spend it?
Running around like an idiot, climbing trees and not worrying about what people thought about me or being careful. I don't have the energy to do that now.

Music Mambo

Hello everyone! Put down the meat, because today is World Vegetarian Day. I'm going to find some famous vegetarian musicans from the list at www.famousveggie.com, and you can tell me your favorite song from each artist!
Annie Lennox - Little Bird
B52's (the whole band, I guess?) - Roam
Billy Idol - Mony Mony (I know it's not really his... but it's by far his most catchy)
Bob Dylan - Like A Rollin Stone (I was gonna say "Subterranean homesick blues" - but it's the Chili Peppers version I like more than his)
Chrissie Hynde (that means the Pretenders) - Brass in Pocket (closely followed by "Don't Get me Wrong")
Elvis Costello - Olivers Army (Although his version of "She" from the Notting Hill Soundtrack is pretty damn good too)
George Harrison (to challenge you - only his solo stuff) - I got my mind set on you (try getting that one out of your head when you heard it in the car on your way to work!)
Peter Gabriel - I'll have to go with "SledgeHammer"

thought I would add some Aussie one's too:-
Daniel Johns from Silverchair (The Greatest View)
Missy Higgins (Scar)
Vanessa Amorosi (her new one "Kiss your Mama" is pretty funky)
Peter Garrett from Midnight Oil (Beds are Burning)

Hi Ho Hi Ho

It's back to work I go... boo hoo ;(

I came back to 208 e-mails, 82 invoices (and another 56 to check), 3 traffic
infringements, 2 accident claim forms, 2 letter of demands, 6 toll fees, 2
rego stickers, 3 fuel cards and 1 demerit point (oops yep one of the
traffic infringements was mine!) Not a partridge in sight.

There is a further pile of stuff in the "too hard" basket... might check
those out tomorrow... if I can't find anything better to do.

Work Over...Time to Play!

Just spent 5 hours putting "new" designs on my website. Takes far too long! I'm going to have to try and get into a routine of doing it monthly, so it doesn't stack up as much. I'm running out of descriptive words too.. most used is "stunning" "beautiful" and "cascade".. I mean, what else can you call a row of beads hanging down and make them sound nice? "Bunch" does not cut it really when it comes to jewellery.

Anyhoo.. time to see what goodies are flying around the superhighway we call WWW.. u tube and random blogger here I come ;) need some stuff for cool things in the coming weeks.,. I've had 2 weeks off already!

The Dreaded Silver Doors

Travelling to the Melbourne Airport, taking my dad for his trip home, I remembered these doors.

I hadn't even got there yet and I was dreading the moment when I would have to face them.

These huge steel doors symbolise sadness and heartbreak. I have said goodbye to many a loved one at these doors, either by travelling through them myself, or like now, as I see the final wave as the doors close and shed the final tear.

Until we meet again Dad. Love ya heaps.

Thanks to this blog for the pic!

Footy Fever

It's that weekend when all aussies go footy mad! More people went to see Geelong practice than turned up to the VFL final! Every TV show on is talking footy, getting their tips on record.

So all that remains to be said is this....

Room 101

Things, people, places, situations etc you hate/loathe/dispise/don't like very much belong in Room 101. If you decide to do the same please comment or link as appropriate as I would love to hear yours too.

I wanna put Marine Based Flying Rats into Room 101.
I believe the correct name for them is Seagulls, or Gulls, but they are indeed the rodents of the feathered variety. Annoying, un-nerving, harassing, fearless creatures, they flock around at the merest morsel of food, beady eyes staring, daring anyone to dropn anything... and if you do, heaven help the individual who is timid in the midst of these birds... cause NOTHING is gonna get in their way!

I did a quick google on the "flying rat" term, and it seems to refer primarily to pigeons, hence why I have clarified my description with "marine based". Whilst I agree they can also be extremely annoying (I did have a rather scary incident where a pigeon flew right into my face in Liverpool - I screamed out loud and fellow shoppers shot me startled glances) they are in no way as intimidating or intrusive as their white winged counterparts.

Quirky Tuesday

Quirky Tuesday will have a different topic each week, to tell everyone about a quirk / ritual / obsession / routine about that subject. As little or as many as you like if you're playing along at home. (I sound like a game show host!). Readers can meme it on their own blogs or just comment on here. Don't forget to link!

This weeks topic is "Dad" in honour of my current guest ;)
  1. My dad loves Wile E Coyote & Roadrunner cartoons. He laughs out loud with tears in his eyes.
  2. He was once stranded in a van in a flood and had to be rescued by the fire brigade when it started floating away
  3. He dances strangely and plays a wicked air guitar!

My 100th Post!

I was looking forward to celebrating 100 insane ramblings of a bored single mom.. but it just happens to fall on the day of the Funeral, so it is bitter-sweet. I am currently feeling sick to my stomach (why do we say that.. of course we are sick to our stomach.. you wouldn't be sick to your right elbow now would you!).. I'm absolutely dreading it.

It's pissing it down. How fitting.

Just one last thing.. I think my cat reads my blog... she has stopped laying on my legs and now sleeps contently beside me. Bizarro!

Please raise your glasses to 100 posts! and here's to at least a 100 more... you lucky lucky things!

Room 101

This week Bad Parkers go into Room 101.
They are selfish individuals who obviously think that taking up 1 1/2 spaces means that they won't get their cars damaged.

If it is the only place to park you have to squeeze yourself out of the car... highly unattractive to any passers by!

Whats worse is that you have to park badly in your own parking space to be able to open the door... and when the bad parker leaves it looks like YOU are the bad parker!
Things, people, places, situations etc you hate/loathe/dispise/don't like very much belong in Room 101. If you decide to do the same please comment or link as appropriate as I would love to hear yours too.

Quirky Tuesday

This weeks topic is "Party"
  1. I am famous at parties for the unusual way I eat Ferrero Rocher
  2. The last fancy dress I went to was a 70s theme... and I went as a member of Boney M, complete with head to toe in brown make-up.
  3. At my last dinner party I bought some of the food and let my guests believe I had cooked it myself.

Departures and Arrivals

This week has been full on! First Pops passing away, then EXH has another baby girl. One out, one in.
Next week is gonna be even more hectic. Still have to help out in the
family business where I can, as well as tidying up at my "real" job before my 10 days leave I booked. My Dad arrives from Perth on Wednesday... at 11pm at night, the airport being 2-3 hours drive away. That morning I also have my Australian Citizenship Interview, and the next day is Pops Funeral. Then Friday is C's Birthday and the Saturday his friends are coming over for a party.

Forgive me if I don't check in as often as usual ;)

Do you ever get the feeling that the whole thing is changin'? Like
somethin' is coming to an end because somethin' else is beginning?"

Ever tried rolling over when you have a weight on your legs?

ANTHONY JOSEPH
"TONY"
9/8/1928 - 12/9/2007
Rest In Peace Pops.. your huge heart and vitality will be greatly missed.

Room 101

This week Ants are going into the room!

Horrible nasty pointless things they are... and they get everywhere! The only good thing about them is that it is fun to run your finger across a line of them and watch them try and find the scent again!

Here's a game called antwar if you like!

As little or as many as you like if you're playing along at home. (I sound like a game show host!). Readers can meme it on their own blogs or just comment on here. Don't forget to link!
