Our House

New series of regular features will track the progress of our house being built.

We started this mammoth journey last April... and since then we have gone through the laborious, mind numbing task of buying land, completing paperwork, choosing builders, completing paperwork, designing house, completing paperwork, obtaining loans, completing paperwork, etc etc (you get the picture)
Back in August, I posted this. Finally, we have got the building permit, and I have been promised that the cutting and staking out will take place this week, ready for the slab...

Here's a pic of what our land looks like now:-

Our left hand neighbours (our house will look very much like this at the front)
Our right hand neighbours

The good thing about them getting their houses up first, is that we don't have to put up with living next door to a construction site... they do!

Check here regularly for step by step process on building your dream home :)

RIP Tony Hart

RIP Tony Hart 1925-2009
I used to love Take Hart & HartBeat (I can still remember the title tune) and of course Morph. I believe it was Tony and his show that gave me my creative hunger, and the ability to see things in an artistic light.. not only what their initial purpose was.
Even today, I use his tricks... like using Blue Tack (or plasticine in those days) under paper when making a hole with a punch or pin, to stop the paper from tearing. I now do this regularly to punch holes in my business cards to display and package my earring designs.

Nadal's Annoying Habit

Went to the tennis on Thursday.. Awesome day out... except a little tiny thing bugged me.....

Every point was the same... every serve the same routine... get 3 balls from the ballboys.. hits one back.... puts one in his pocket, bounces the ball on the ground with his racket... picks his undies out of his ass... serves..

Nads, honey... if you are gonna get sponsorship from Nike, don't worry about the amount of $$$ they offer you... make sure they give you comfy undies... a wedgie is very unattractive when you pick it out... especially when you do it EVERY SINGLE TIME in front of a few thousand people in the arena.. and a few million! on TV.

Go see Pat Rafter... he swears by his comfy undies :)

From the Universe

What you want has no bearing on whether or not you'll get it.
None. Nada. Zippo.
It's only ever a question of whether or not you can behave as if you already have it.

People who don't check spelling of other people's names!
Their names and details have been deleted to protect the stupid and/or incompetent...

Their response:

Tracey,

Thanks for the details.

Regards,

Manic Monday

Manic Monday #151
What do you do to make yourself feel better when you are sick?
I watch Judge Judy or Dr Phil, or even better if I can find an episode of Jerry Springer. Makes me feel a whole lot better that I am not a guest on one of those shows ;)

What is the most amazing weather you've ever seen?
I remember being in a gale so fierce that for every step forward was a real fight not to to be blown back again. I was walking home from the dentist when I was about 16. I was almost crying with frustration by the time I got home. I also love Aussie weather... especially warm rain.. love walking in the rain on a warm day, or sitting out in a singlet watching the lightning.

Do you listen to music or talk radio in the car?
I am currently in between stations... switching from Nova 100 to Vega 91.5. I like Vega better but after a while feel out of touch with new music so switch so start feeling young again. I love Dicko Dave & Chrissie on Vega's brekkie radio.

From the Universe

It's the exact same for me. My love goes unreturned, I feel completely unappreciated, or some clown starts telling me what's wrong with the world (my world!).

And so, I have to remind myself that I am the Universe, that this is an adventure, and that one day they will come to know the errors in their thinking.

And, not that it matters at all, but I secretly hope that on that day I just happen to be carried past them, sitting in my processional throne, followed by throngs of admirers, with all the Angels singing, "We are the champions, my friends..."
You are the Universe, this is an adventure, and they will learn.
Tallyho,

The Universe

Room 101

Trucker Caps.

The foam front that makes your forehead looks twice as tall as it really is.. and worse... the cheap mesh net at the back to supposedly let ventilation in.

Please face it... they look shit.. if you wanna wear a cap, wear a baseball cap. At least they conform to the shape of your head and don't look like you made it at home from your gramma's curtains.

From the Universe

It's easy. Your thoughts become things. Don't fight it. Don't think there's anything else. Don't entertain the false premises of fate, luck, or a God who judges, withholds, or decides.

You decide. You manifest. You rule. This is why you are here. This is what you came to discover. You were born to experience your absolute dominion over every flimsy, malleable illusion of time and space; to have, do, and be anything.

Truthfully, it couldn't be any easier. All you have to do is think of what you want and refuse to deviate from that thought. This will, invariably, set you into motion, stir up the magic, and unleash the full force, power, and majesty of a Universe conspiring on your behalf.

It's worth everything you've got. Be strong, be vigilant, take action, and the Kingdom of Heaven shall appear at your very feet.

I've got your back,

The Universe

The Movie of Your Life in 2008
1. What would be the title? Try Harder
2. What would be the tag line? You Need more than just Lemons to make Lemonade
3. Who would be the main characters? Who would you cast to play them? I would Like to be played by Kim Raver, or maybe Alyson Hannigan . Mom played by Judi Dench. My now ex T/L by John Travolta or Jeremy Piven.
4. What would be the climax in the story? The realisation that you can put your heart and soul into a relationship, but if the other person doesn't do the same, then it cannot be saved.
5. What song would play for the closing credits? You can't always get what you want, by the Rolling Stones, followed by Opportunity, by Pete Murray or Around the Bend by the Asteroids Galaxy Tour (gimme good good times around the bend!)

Quirky Tuesday

Pranks to play at Christmas:
  • Put the "lucky penny" in the turkey instead of the Christmas Pud... whoever requires the Hiemlich Maneouvre has won!
  • Decorate the dog's tail with tinsel, then watch him run round for hours trying to get it off.
  • Put the volume to zero on the Queen's speak then sit there and make comments about how wise and wonderful she is while your relatives wonder why then can't hear her.
  • Buy everyone Gifts you know they will hate and award points for the cheesiest fake smiles.
  • Put yellow food dye in ice cubes for drinks and tell guests you used snow from outside.

Plan Ahead

The start of the new year is always a time where I feel motivated and positive. It always seems the ideal to plan those things you always wanted to do.. to make 2009 a year to remember.
In 2008 I:-
  • Did Silver making Classes
  • Rode my first Motorbike
  • Took C. to his first live concert
  • Started a fantastic new job
  • Built a pergola (or rather had one built)
  • Made my own work desk from scratch
  • Became an Australian Citizen
  • Upgraded to HD and went wireless
  • Went to Gold Coast Theme Parks
  • Saw Mike Dooley
  • Went on a Test Drive Day
  • Attended an Expo by myself
  • Joined Facebook
  • Started Plans to Build a new House
  • Been on the Radio (very very briefly...)
  • Went to Oaks Day

I'm sure there's more but can't think of them at the moment...

So Far in 2009 I plan to:-

  • Get my Motorbike Licence
  • Attend Cranbourne Rodeo
  • Go to The Australian Open (that's Tennis to the non-sports fans!)
  • Take C. to Calder Park Raceway
  • Finish Building my House
  • Go to a Day Spa
  • Go to a shooting range
  • Build up my Jewellery Business

If anyone has any other suggestions of things to do, places to go, and things to achieve, please let me know... or tell me what your plans are and if they are great I'll copy them!

Cool Things I found This Week

If I told you how I came across this site you wouldn't believe me, so I won't bother.

So while we are on the subject of Nuts, I thought I would share these too:

A wonderful expression here in Oz is "The Duck's Nuts" meaning that it is "the bees knees" or it's Totally Cool! And it's in the Urban Dictionary

: and of course you can always eat Ducks Nuts

... although, I personally prefer Nobby's Nuts

From the Universe

Jambo, this is the Universe! The all-powerful, all-knowing, do whatever the heck I want, how I want, when I want, Universe.
Yes, the very same Universe that can give you all that your heart desires... but won't.
Because that would take ALL the FUN out of it for you.

Trust me,

Room 101

This is gonna sound terribly ungrateful, but toiletry gift sets, bath gift sets, pedicure gift sets etc etc, should just be banned for life.
Not only is it a subtle attack on my personal hygiene, but then I have my dilemmas:-

1) How do I use sparkly bath bubbles in a creative way, in view of the fact that I never have a bath (I always shower... and although most people find them relaxing, I find them kinda boring and even verging on the disgusting... being that I am sitting in water which in turn is now tainted with my own filth)

2) How do I creatively re-use the rather useless basket/wire tray it came in?

3) If I fail to find creative re-uses, which poor sucker do I re-gift it to next year?

Let's just cross these off the gift lists, then no-one has to worry about what they are getting from me next year!

Shot on The Spot

I got tagged by my gorgeous new friend Carina. I don't normally do pics... at all... but to show my support here's mine... unedited, uncropped, nude, naked, raw... (so to speak) Yeah, I know.. my fringe needs cutting.

I'm supposed to tag 5, but I'll just do 3....

Mr Hulme... my Scouse Rock
Becca .... artiste and all round cool chick
Kate... cause I hassle her on facebook so why not on blogger too! ;)

These are the rules:
1. DON'T change your clothes.
2. DON'T fix your hair.
3. Just take a picture.
4. Post that picture with NO editing.
5. Tag 5 people to do this

Cool Things I found This Week

Check this out! It's an awesome optical illusion I discovered while wandering around the "Fuel My Blog" Peeps.

When I saw it here.. I could only get her to spin anti-clockwise.. didn't matter how I looked at it, I couldn't get her to change direction.

When I looked here though... I can get her to go clockwise, as long as I look at the left picture. The minute I look at the right one she changes direction.

It's bizarre!

My brain knows it's left from it's right, even though I have to check occasionally by pretending to write with my right hand when someone asks me for directions (am I the only person who does that?)

Saturday PlayList

I'm stealing ideas again. I was trolling the cyber waves looking for something music inspired... and although I did something similar back then, I like "Sam"'s idea... so here's what came up on my music player this week.....

2. Christina Aguilera - Keeps Getting Better
3. Tom Jones - Delilah (now there's a great song for Karaoke!)
4. Paolo Nutini - Alloway Grove
5. Nickleback - Feeling Way Too Damn Good (there's nothing wrong with Nickleback... occasionally ... tee hee )
6. Chicago - Hard to Say I'm Sorry (everybody needs a little time away)
7. Damien Rice - The Blower's Daughter (a spine tingling-ly awesome song)
8. Simian Mobile Disco - Duke of Casio
9. Pharrell - She's an Angel
10. John Mayer - Message in a Bottle (Live cover - very cool!)

From the Universe

Sometimes, when you're feeling your lowest, the real you is summoned.
And you understand, maybe for the first time ever, how grand you are, because you discover that vulnerable doesn't mean powerless, scared doesn't mean lacking in beauty, and uncertainty doesn't mean that you're lost.
These realizations alone will set you on a journey that will take you far beyond what you used to think of as extraordinary.

There is always a bright side.

Monday's a Bitch

Random Joy
1. What are your thoughts on chastity? Under-rated!
2. How many days do you think you could go with only your computer for company? As long as I have e-mail and blogging I could be happy for weeks... although I think I would get severe eye strain.
3. What, in your opinion, is the exact opposite of butter? Margarine immediately springs to mind... but I can see this coule be a serious debate topic...
4. Have you ever seen the musical "Cats"? If so, what did you think of it? Yes I have, but it was a long time ago and I can't really remember it. In fact I think I was too young to properly understand it. I love the costumes and make up though.
5. What's the #1 thing on your wish list this holiday season? Love and happiness (oops, that's 2 I guess)

Sunday, December 14, 2008

Well... It is Christmas!

The three wise men arrived to visit the child lying in the manger.
One of the wise men was exceptionally tall and smacked his head on the low doorway as he entered the stable.

"Jesus Christ!" he exclaimed.

"Write that down, Mary," said Joseph "It's better than Derek."

Chances are astronomically high that it will happen again.
